Washington National Airport (DCA) from Gravely Point

Here are some shots of DCA. My area at the TRACON handles all radar approaches and departures from Washington National. Since we were so close to the airport, the departures were awfully loud and scared Madie a bit.






























Madie wasn't too happy about all of the jet noise. So we couldn't stay too long.

In this shot you can see a departure on takeoff roll and in the background you can see an arrival that is about to land. They run 'em tight at DCA.

Memorial Day in Washington

We went into DC for Memorial Day and caught some of the parade. We also checked out the National Aquarium (which is terrible), and we also got in a quick tour of the Freer Art Museum.

The Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum

Ann, Madie and I went to the Air and Space Museum that's located at Dulles airport. It has a lot more aircraft on display than the one downtown, and it also has an observation deck that is seven stories tall which overlooks Dulles airport. This is definitely a cool place to check out if you're interested in aviation.

Colin's Second Birthday

Here are some shots of Colin's second birthday party. Colin and Madie have the same babysitter and his parents work at the TRACON with us, so they get to see each other a lot. Madie had a lot of fun and slept exceptionally well that night.

Madie got into Ann's purse. It looks like she's all set to head to work at the TRACON. Thankfully she can't get the door open...yet.

Ann's cousin Megan was married over the weekend to Josh in Knoxville, TN. We had a great time. Thanks to Robin and Steve for your wonderful hospitality!
